It’s a sad day for Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee, and all other Gilda’s Club affiliates. One of our co-founders, Gene Wilder died today from complications from Alzheimer’s. Gene’s love for his late wife, Gilda Radner, drove his dedication to open the first Gilda’s Club in New York City in 1995 with the help of Gilda’s pyschotherapist, Joanna Bull, and actor Joel Siegel. Together, this trio held a strong desire to create a space where anyone impacted by any type/stage of cancer could receive evidence-based psychosocial support – always free of charge. We are forever grateful for the community of support these founders created, and for allowing Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee to continue Gilda’s legacy for the past 18 years.
