One of the things I enjoy most about being a part of the team at Gilda’s Club is having lots of opportunities to get out into the community. We’re out and about most weeks, doing our very best to build awareness of our free cancer support program, but we also seize every opportunity we can to nurture and celebrate the Middle Tennessee community of which we are a part. We thoroughly enjoy cheering on our community partners, championing other non-profits, and supporting the passions of our members and volunteers.
Already this fall, we’ve been fortunate to have participated in a variety of community and special events – and we’re hosting two of our own this month. The first one is a biggie: the annual Red Door Bash, which will be held at the Omni Nashville Hotel on October 16. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we’re expecting upwards of 450 guests (with RSVPs still coming in)! Together, we will celebrate three community leaders for their giving hearts and extraordinary impact. You can learn more about the event here.
Our second big event in October is a new one: a pop-up art show and sale. Creative Community Market will be held October 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville and feature the works of more than 15 local artists. Among those selling jewelry, textiles, fused and stained glass, illustrations, paintings (oil, acrylic, watercolor), and hand-made cards at the sale will be:
• Steph Barnes
• Jan Bell
• Leslie Cole
• Anne Fletcher
• Stacey Irvin
• Sarah Kaufman
• Jill Mayo
• Pam Murray
• Kellye Potts
• Andee Rudloff
• Alicia Thompson
• Leslie Welch
• Rhonda Wernick
• Jen Wilkins
• Bonnie Williams
• Amy Wilson
• Ron York
This is a free Artober art sale and a portion of proceeds support Gilda’s Club, so please grab a friend (or 20!) and join us. There will be plenty of free parking and food available for purchase.
I could go on and on, but I won’t. Instead, I invite you to visit the Events and Outreach page on our website. Check it out. See where we’ll be next. And then let’s connect in the community. I’m looking forward to it.
